ABOUT ME

I offer a confidential, non-judgemental counselling service for individuals and couples. I provide a regular space and time for you to explore life’s current difficulties, supporting you to find new ways to live your life more effectively.

As an integrative counsellor I believe that there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. Rather, each client needs to be considered as a whole and counselling techniques must be tailored to the individual needs and personal circumstances with paramountcy on forming a sound therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor.

I offer both short term and long term counselling therapy, for example, if you only have one issue you want to exclusively focus on, a short-term therapy might be best. If you’d like to understand yourself, and how your past has informed your present day patterns, have several issues you’d like to approach, or just aren’t sure what you will discover? Long-term therapy might be called for.

We can explore your needs within our initial session.

Experience

I first trained to become a bereavement counsellor with Cruse Bereavement Care in 2011, working with adults, children and young people facing grief and loss. Since then, I continued to diversify and develop my skills and experience through RelateNI; working with couples and individuals; RNIB on their Need to Talk Project (NTT) providing telephone counselling; Familyworks as a post-primary schools counsellor; Jigsaw Project as a primary school counsellor and within other various community counselling HUB settings before opening my own private practice. I am also an associate counsellor for Inspire (EAP), a leading provider of workplace wellbeing solutions, delivering mental health and wellbeing support to some of the UK and Ireland’s leading private, public and third sector organisations. In addition, I also provide counselling for Inspire on their Self Harm Intervention Programme (SHIP) & Bright Futures Programme.

I have over eighteen years experience of working in the statutory and voluntary sectors as a Youth Worker, Mentor and Facilitator, specialising in assessing the social, emotional, behavioural and educational needs of young people and devising programmes to enable them to be reach their full potential. I have a wealth of experience as a trainer of accredited and non-accredited courses.

I am a professionally qualified youth worker following the completion of my BA (Hons) Youth Work. This is validated by the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) which recognises youth and community workers’ qualifications that have been professionally approved by the Education Training Standards (ETS) Committee of the National Youth Agency.

I am an Accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (MNCS Accred) & also a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and as such I abide by their Code of Ethics.

Mostly recently I became a Professional Member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online.
